{"id":5020,"date":"2014-02-13T15:35:21","date_gmt":"2014-02-13T20:35:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.erinfarrellphotography.com\/theblog\/?p=5020"},"modified":"2014-02-13T15:41:18","modified_gmt":"2014-02-13T20:41:18","slug":"baby-hs-birth-story-delaware-birth-photographer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/erinfarrellphotography.com\/theblog\/2014\/02\/baby-hs-birth-story-delaware-birth-photographer\/","title":{"rendered":"Baby H&#8217;s Birth Story {Delaware Birth Photographer}"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jen is a friend of mine, a fellow photographer and she often second shoots for me. \u00a0So when she asked me to photograph the birth of her eighth (yes, you read that right &#8212; EIGHTH ) baby, I was thrilled. \u00a0I also assumed it was going to be an incredibly fast labor. \u00a0For most labors, I head to the hospital when I get word that the mother is 5cm dilated. \u00a0But with Jen, I told her I&#8217;d meet her at the hospital door. \u00a0haha<\/p>\n<p>I get a text around 10pm that her water broke, so I think &#8220;Yay! \u00a0I&#8217;m going to be able to photograph this birth and be home before I have to get my kids off to school!&#8221; \u00a0I spring into action and hop in the car for the 25 minute drive to the hospital. \u00a0When I&#8217;m about five minutes away, she texts me and asks if she wants me to call or text when they head in. \u00a0&#8220;uh . . .you mean you&#8217;re not heading in NOW?&#8221; \u00a0Here is a screen shot of her initial response and then mine.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5026 aligncenter\" alt=\"photo\" src=\"http:\/\/www.erinfarrellphotography.com\/theblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/photo.png\" width=\"384\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/erinfarrellphotography.com\/theblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/photo.png 640w, https:\/\/erinfarrellphotography.com\/theblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/photo-200x300.png 200w, https:\/\/erinfarrellphotography.com\/theblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/photo-133x200.png 133w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 384px) 100vw, 384px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So, I didn&#8217;t tell her I was already practically at the hospital and I headed home and climbed into bed, fully clothed. \u00a0And then I didn&#8217;t hear her text at midnight that she was finally going in. \u00a0Thankfully (for photo purposes), she was only 2cm dilated and was still the same when I woke up at 6am and saw her text. \u00a0I headed down to the hospital and stayed all day. \u00a0Super slow progress (as it seems the baby had flipped into a breech position overnight. \u00a0Jen was such a champ though &#8212;
